Watercress has been used for its health benefits for thousands of years. Nearly 2500 years ago, the Greek physician Hippocrates – considered to be one of the most outstanding figures in the history of medicine – built his hospital by a fast-flowing stream so he could grow watercress to help care for his patients.
Watercress is an aquatic plant and is considered the most nutrient-dense vegetable on the planet per calorie, a fact which is backed by science. A study conducted by the CDC (Centre for Disease Control and Prevention) evaluated 47 powerhouse fruits and vegetables, ranking them based on their overall nutrient density and nutrient diversity. Watercress came out number one.

Cress Valley Watercress Powder uses watercress that has been commercially grown to GAP standard in fresh New Zealand spring water. Watercress grows seasonally, so we harvest the crop and then process and dry the product to create a highly nutrient-dense watercress powder that can be taken as a supplement all year round.
The drying process is carried out under specific conditions that retain vital nutrients whilst ensuring the product is microbiologically safe. It is a fine science. Each batch is microbiologically tested (AOAC-PTM/Microval), before being released for consumption to ensure product quality every time.
